Sabah to have cyberpark: Max

The Federal and Sabah Governments are working towards setting up a cyberpark in the State, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Datuk Dr Maximus Ongkili said yesterday. “The idea is to link Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) with its surrounding areas, and this is one area that we are focusing on,” he said. A science and technology park would contribute to the economic and scientific development of the country by converting scientific research into technological products, he told reporters after launching the State-level Science, Technology and Innovation week near here. Ongkili said the scope of the proposed cyberpark was under discussion between the Ministry and the relevant authorities in the State. He also said that the Government would install a tsunami buoy in Sabah waters off Kudat soon. “We are about to install the tsunami buoy in the northern part of Sabah (Sabahwaters) near Palawan Island in the Philippines. Things are being worked out between the Malaysian and Philippine Governments,” he said. - Bernama
