Tuaran, KK accidents kill van driver, biker

TUARAN:

A van driver and a motorcyclist were killed in two separate accidents here and Kota Kinabalu yesterday. In the mishap in Tuaran, the van driver died and two of his passengers were injured after his vehicle crashed with a trailer truck about 10. 30 am. According to Inspector Najijim Duin from the Police Traffic Division, the van driven by Madsah Uttah, 40, was on the way from Tuaran Town to Berungis when the accident occurred. The van later then skidded into the drain and the driver was stuck inside. Madsah, who suffered serious head injuries, was pronounced dead at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Naijim said the lorry driver escaped unhurt and was being investigated by the police. In the second case, Nordin Jual from Kampun Pair Putih, Putatan, was travelling to Kota Kinabalu when he lost control of his bike and coffided with the four-wheel drive along the Putatan Highway about 1pm. Penampang District Police Chief Deputy Superitendent Madang Usat said the 22-year-old victim died on the spot while the driver of the vehicle escaped unhurt.
