Oil price can go down if price remains at US$113 a barrel: Najib

BUKIT MERTAJAM:

Domestic fuel prices could go down soon if the world crude oil price remains at US$113 a barrel, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak disclosed here yesterday. “There may be good news for the people in the next one or two days. We can review the fuel prices,” he said in his speech at a meet-the-people function in Permatang Tengah, here yesterday. Najib, who is also Barisan Nasional (BN) Deputy Chairman, said the people needed not wait for Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to become Prime Minister to reduce the fuel pump prices as the Government could do the same if the world oil price was maintained at that level. He said the Government would also have other good news for the people when tabling the 2009 Budget on Aug 29. “Just wait,” he added. “The move is to lessen the people financial burden following the rise in the cost of living,” he said, adding that the people should not be influenced by promises made by the Opposition which they could not guarantee would be fulfilled. - Bernama
